Floor Barre with Adult Ballet Centre
Influenced by Boris Kniaseff, the Floor Barre method is an invaluable tool for helping adult dancers and the general population develop strength, core control, coordination, flexibility, understanding of ballet turnout, and correct positioning and alignment.
Muscle and Joint Strength: Floor Barre corrects alignment, enhances muscle strength, and nurtures joint health, all while minimizing the impact of gravity. Tension Release: This gentle yet effective approach elongates and strengthens muscles, alleviating tension from the neck and joints.
Technical Precision: Enhances alignment, turnout, muscle engagement, connection to the body, prepares ready for ballet class.
Muscle Memory: Builds memory for correct positions and movements.
Improved Posture: Emphasises proper alignment, preventing typical mistakes made at the barre.
You are invited to join these 30-minute specialised classes, which are programmed in our timetable before all our weekly ballet classes. They will help you with your technique development, fitness, and strength for ballet with ongoing lifelong benefits.
You are also welcome to join the classes if you wish to gain the benefits of floor barre but are time-poor and can’t join the ballet class.
When: Monday 11.30am and 6pm, Wednesday 11.30am and 6pm, Thursday 12:00pm and 6pm, Saturday 7:30am and 2:30pm (as of Saturday 4 January, 2025)
What to wear and bring: Mat and drink bottle, clothing that you can move freely in - Gym/Yoga, Dancewear
